BRIGG Bengal Tiger Walking stick. England, ca. 1900

Mysterious and wraithlike, the tiger is rendered invisible in the jungle, forest, or high grasses by its magical fur cloak of irregular body stripes. The tiger signifies the stature and ferocity of the professional or momentary warrior, the pure capacity to spring into action at a critical time. The tiger also crosses into fluid dimensions, loving the waters of hidden jungle pools, oceans, and swamps.

The figure depicts a masterly carved Bengal Tiger in the root of a single piece of Hungarian laurel wood with glass eyes and a coloured face showing an expression of being alert and ready to attack, it is 12 cm lengthwise x 5 cm wide x 4cm high. It is brand-marked BRIGG LONDON. The O.L. is 93 cm, it ends with a metal ferrule and the whole cane has minimal signs of usage, without chips or cracks the condition is perfect.

2022 is the year of the Tiger in the Chinese horoscope !
