Art Deco Egyptian revival, Tutankhamun Cane. France, ca. 1925

Egypt-mania was a bombastic movement that emerged in Europe originated with the discovery of the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun in 1922 for this reason, many objects of daily use as furniture, fashion, architecture, decoration, advertising etc, were redesigned with an Egyptian touch.

This exquisite cane, inspired by this pharaoh, shows a surprising resemblance with the famous gold burial mask found in his tomb, this is an extremely white and uniform ivory piece 7 cm high x 4 cm lengthwise x 3,5 cm wide on top of an ebony shaft, there is a silver ring with maker's marks and ends with a bimetal ferrule. The OL is 90 cm and without chips or cracks or hairlines the condition is perfect.
