Heraldry is a discipline relating to the design, display, and study of armorial bearings known as armoury.

This large handle is masterly carved in a piece of ebony depicting a majestic Heraldry Lyon which is standing on its hind legs, looking defiantly forward and holding a Renaissance shield in its claws. The detail of his anatomy, his mane, and his claws is extraordinary. It is 12 cm high x 3,5 cm. There is a 3,5 cm high, gold collar with unreadable hallmarks and is on top of an ebonized shaft ending with a bimetal ferrule. The O.L. is 90 cm. Without chips or cracks, the condition is perfect.
